Throwing bowls deserves special attention. Whether you are making everyday breakfast bowls or a table centrepiece, anticipating applying decoration or planning straightforward glaze dipping; leaving enough clay to turn a footring or keeping it simple, nothing is quite so satisfying as a beautiful curve inside a bowl and a good balance in the hands.
Beautiful Bowls 2 can be booked separately as a stand-alone workshop with throwing practice identical to Day 1. At the end of the day you can either allow your work to be reclaimed, or arrange to finish pots on a subsequent visit. Additional firing charges will then apply.
Alternatively, it can be booked in addition to Day 1, to complete work already thrown in the same weekend. The day will then be used to practice efficient trimming and turning or adding thrown-on foot rings to the work produced on Day 1, and exploring decorative techniques on the damp clay.
Suitable for beginner, early and intermediate potters.
Course fee: £80 per day, including hot drinks and biscuits available throughout the day. Lunch is not included; bring your own lunch or visit one of the many cafés locally.
